What is Indigo dye? Is it color fast?

All of our Indigo denims are rope dyed using Indigo Dye. Rope dyeing is the most traditional way of dyeing Indigo denim. The deep blue shades are built slowly as the ropes of yarn, go through the dye process. The warp yarns( vertical direction) are dyed prior to being woven The indigo dye does not fully penetrate the yarn which is why denim jeans fade over time and get better with age. Indigo dye is not color fast; it will crock and fade.

What different weaves do you offer?

3x1 RHT
Coarse diagonal right hand twill – this is the weave found in most heavyweight (12.5 ounces and heavier) denim fabrics.
2x1 RHT
Fine diagonal right hand twill- commonly used in midweight denims (10.5-12 ounce). 2x1 twills have more warp coverage so you see less of the natural weft( horizontal direction) yarn. This creates a finer and flatter twill line which will drape better than a 3x1 twill.
3x1 LHT
Coarse diagonal left hand twill. Left hand twills are softer after wet processing.
